Apple TV subscribers in the United States now have access to Formula 1 broadcasts in Dolby Atmos, beginning with the 2026 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, which runs October 23 through October 25 at the Circuit of The Americas. The upgrade marks the first time Apple has brought Atmos support to a sports offering on its streaming service.

Apple describes the result as surrounding fans with the sounds of race weekend, "from team radio and commentary to roaring engines, on-track battles, and pit-lane intensity." Paired with Dolby Vision, Apple says the combination "delivers exceptional sound and spectacular visuals that put fans at the heart of the action."

John Couling, who serves as Senior Vice President for Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, said F1's trackside microphones and sensors already in place can power Apple's Atmos coverage rather than installing new hardware. Viewers need a television or audio system that supports Dolby Atmos to hear the spatial audio.

The United States Grand Prix schedule opens with Practice 1 on Friday, October 23 at 1:30 p.m. ET, followed by Practice 2 at 5 p.m. ET. Practice 3 runs Saturday, October 24 at 1:30 p.m. ET, with Qualifying at 5 p.m. ET. The race itself takes place Sunday, October 25 at 4 p.m. ET.

Apple TV has served as the sole U.S. destination for Formula 1 since March under a five-year agreement. Every race, along with practice and sprint sessions and coverage before and after each grand prix, comes with a subscription at no additional charge, alongside onboard cameras, team radios, and live telemetry through a dedicated channel in the Apple TV app.

To mark the weekend, Apple is screening Sunday's race live at the company's Domain NORTHSIDE store in Austin. The company has also expanded its Detailed City Experience in Apple Maps to cover Austin, adding a detailed Circuit of The Americas map marking turn numbers, grandstands, and 3D landmarks. A subscription to Apple TV costs $14.99 per month, or it can be bundled through Apple One.
